Squamish is locaed between Vancouver and Whistler. It means "Mother of Wind" in native language. The temperature difference between those two cities causes thermal effect and gives us nice inflow. Reliable wind blows from morning to late afternoon (sometimes night!) at 20-25 knots.
Kite spot (Squamish spit) is basically river, but water is glacially one. Therefore, there is tide change, current is fast and water is quite cold...Still, people are really happy with reliable steady wind and flat water. Instead of many other kite sopts all over the world in summer, the reason why I chose this spot is friendly people. People know me and I know them well. I belive that it is really important for me to get comfortable. If this journey was 1 or 2 weeks, I would go somewhere else. I biked a lot to get to the spit, but got a ride from friends sometimes. I'd like to thank everybody who helped me in Squamish.
During this kite trip, I mostly focused on basic tricks (like backroll, frontroll and raley). I like wakeboarding style, thus Squmiahs flatwater is really kick me in. Practice went along and my style is getting better. Now, I can try some more advacned tricks. Once I tried unhooked kiteloop and crushed, I broke my board. However, warranty worke and I got a bland new board!!
